Marlow Tornados

Our miserable season continues against tonight's opposition. A good start (we had a few shots at goal) was quickly tempered by the other team actually putting the ball in the back of the net. Sometimes I think that the opposition play by different rules.

It was a physical game for me for a change. Whilst Olu continued with his solid work in midfield (crawling out of one challenge which left his opponent on the floor he was heard to comment, "third time lucky") I suffered a couple of equally enthusiastic challenges which removed my legs from underneath me. It is amazing how much potential pain the adrenaline flowing round your body can mask.

It's the second time we'd had this particular referee and whilst the referees are not the best (what do you expect at our level) your hope is that they'd at least attempt to control the game in some way rather than let it get out of hand. I was tempted to call to his attention that he was a <expletive> disgrace and be happy to miss my final match next week having been sent off but his black eye and stitches suggested that he'd already suffered that fate from someone even less eloquent.
